Lodge Chaplain Program

E-mail Print PDF

chaplainpinBelieving that the role of the Lodge Chaplain is an essential one, Most Worshipful Brother Terry W. Posey has sanctioned the Lodge Chaplain Program and Chaplain’s pin as a way of recognizing the Brothers who hold this office and of ensuring that they perform their full duty.

The following list of duties are those that each participating Chaplain agrees to endeavor to perform during the 2009-2010 Masonic year.

Duties of the Lodge Chaplain

  1. Ensure that his conduct in Lodge and among his Brothers be such as will remind them of their obligation to be good men and true.
  2. Give the prayers—from memory—during the opening and closing of Lodge as well as during the initiation of candidates.
  3. Give prayers, when called on, at meals or other activities of the Lodge in a non-sectarian fashion so that all Brothers may share in them.
  4. Visit the sick and shut-in members of the Lodge as well as its widows, providing what consolation he can, and report regularly to the Lodge on their condition.
  5. Assist the Lodge to see that each candidate takes his obligation upon the Holy Book that he would find most binding upon his conscience.
  6. See that activities of the Lodge never interfere with the ability of a member of the Lodge to observe the holy days of his Faith.

Lodges wishing to participate in this program may order a Lodge Chaplain’s pin for $5.00 from the Grand Secretary’s office, 800-292-6092.
