Greetings Brethren, I am very pleased to be a part of the Grand Lodge Committee on Education and Information. As an educator, I wholeheartedly believe that there is no greater purpose in life than to teach another. Just like Charity, education “extends beyond the grave”. Martin Luther King, Jr. wrote, “Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education”. Those words were penned in 1964 and still ring true for our Masonic Education today. Growing in the teachings of Masonry will lead us to a deeper understanding of ourselves, our surroundings, and our relationship with the Supreme Architect of the Universe. This growth encourages the development of our character as men and Masons and causes our Light to shine for others to see. The Education Committee is pleased to see that the reinstatement of the DEO’s has met with great approval by the Brethren of Ohio. We’re continuing to work on new programs and improve on old ones. We should see the release of 3 new programs (How to Plan a Masonic Year, Officer’s Manual Training Program, and a short video for non-Masonic viewing) in the very near future. Please continue to visit the education section of the Grand Lodge website as it contains a treasure chest of information and ideas. On that note, if you have questions about the website or information presented here, please don’t hesitate to contact myself or Chad Simpson. Please continue to make use of the online Code Courses. It is strongly recommended that all officers complete the courses. You can take them online or see your LEO who has access to written copies. These are an excellent training tool to add to your Masonic leadership skills bank. After completing the courses, you’ll need to notify your LEO or DEO that you’ve successfully completed them. In turn, they will request the certificate from the Grand Lodge. Brothers, thank you for your dedication to Freemasonry and all that we stand for. Fraternally, Dennis M. Evans, Chairman – Grand Lodge Education and Information Committee |
