David Lee Dresser was born October 5, 1935 in Hudson, Ohio, the second son of Mynard and Helen Dresser. In 1.939 the family moved to Cleveland and in 1942 to Solon, Ohio. Most Worshipful Brother Dresser was graduated in 1953 from Solon High School.
On April 7, 1956, he married the former Patricia J. Lowe of Bedford, Ohio. They have three children and they are the proud grandparents of Michael 8, Jonathon 6, and Jenna 3.
M. W. Brother Dresser worked as an auto mechanic and salesman from 1953 through 1959. He then joined The Independent Ohio Nail Co. as a sales representative and was transferred to Dayton, Ohio in 1961. In 1971 he affiliated with an independent tire dealer in Dayton, and in 1986 acquired the Kerst Tire Service Company in Piqua, Ohio.
He was a member of The Ohio Tire Dealers and Retreaders Association, The National Tire Dealers and Retreaders Association, The Piqua Area Chamber of Commerce, and served one term as a Republican Precinct Committeeman. He is a former Little League Coach and was active in the Indian Guides and the Parents Club for the Dayton Rotary Boys Choir.
He was an active member of The Vandalia United Methodist Church.
M. W. Brother Dresser was raised a Master Mason in Vandalia Lodge No. 742, on October 15, 1963, and served as its Worshipful Master in 1969.
In The Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, he joined The Valley of Dayton in April” 1967 and was appointed into the line of Dayton Consistory in 1972. He served as Commander-in-Chief from 1980-1982. He was Coroneted a 33rd Degree, Honorary member of the Supreme Council at Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1983.
In York Rite Masonry, M. W. Brother Dresser was exalted a Royal Arch Mason in Victory Chapter No. 210 in 1965, was received a Royal and Select Master in Reese Council No.9 in 1981, and was knighted in Reed Commandery No.6 in 1980.
David became a member of Antioch Temple Shrine in 1970, where he was active in the Motor Corp and was the founder of the “Dune Buggy Group”. He served on the Publicity Committee, Past Master’s Unit and was Antioch’s special events announcer for several years.
M. W. Brother Dresser is a member and Past President of the Downtown Dayton High Twelve Club, a member and Past Worthy Patron of Camellia Chapter No. 562, Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Royal Order of Jesters, Court No. 10, a member of Thomas Smith Webb Council, Allied Masonic Degrees, Past President of the Second District Officers Association, member of the Second District Past District Deputy’s Association, and served as President of the Vandalia Temple Association. He was elected to serve as Chairman of the National Conference of Grand Masters of North America at the 1989 session to be held in Arlington, VA.
M. W. Brother Dresser is a former member of the Advisory Board for the Vandalia DeMolay Chapter, and is a recipient of the DeMolay Honorary Legion of Honor. He was a member of the Advisory Board for the Vandalia Rainbow Assembly, serving as its chairman.
Due to the untimely death of R. W. Brother F. B Gorrell, M. W. Brother Dresser never had the opportunity of serving as a District Deputy Grand Master. He was asked to serve as Junior Grand Deacon by Right Worshipful Brother Donald M. Harlow, prior to his passing, and was appointed to that office by M. W. Brother Charles B. Moody in 1981, and was subsequently appointed Senior Grand Deacon in 1982, Grand Marshal in 1983, and Grand Orator in 1984.
He was elected Junior Grand Warden in 1985, Senior Grand Warden in 1986, and Deputy Grand Master in 1987. On October 15, 1988 he was installed in Toledo as Grand Master of Masons in Ohio.
In October 1991 M. W. Brother Dresser was elected Grand Secretary of the Grand Lodge of Ohio and served that office until his retirement in October 2000.
M. W. Brother Dresser resides at Avon Park, Florida.
