Grand Master – Shawn Johnson

Grand Master’s Message to the Brethren

I stand before you deeply humbled by the great trust you have placed in me to serve as your Grand Master. It is a trust I do not take lightly, and one that fills me with gratitude and reverence. To be chosen by my Brethren to lead this ancient and honorable Fraternity in Ohio is both the greatest honor of my Masonic journey and one of the greatest responsibilities of my life. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for this opportunity to serve.

Freemasonry is, at its very core, about trust. We trust one another as Brothers. We trust in the lessons of our Craft. And we trust that by walking this path together, we can shape not only our own lives, but the world around us for the better. You have trusted me with this office, and I promise you, Brethren, that I am fully and faithfully Committed to the Craft, committed to you, and committed to carrying out the work that lies before us with humility, dedication, and love.

In every corner of our state, from the smallest Lodge to the largest, I see men who come together not for personal gain, but to grow in light, to serve their communities, and to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood. This is what makes Freemasonry so vital and so enduring. Our teachings remind us that titles and honors fade, but character, virtue, and the love we share as Brothers endure forever. The legacy we leave behind is not measured in accolades, but in the lives we touch and the good we do.

Brethren, we live in a world where division often makes the loudest noise. Yet within our Lodges, we gather on the level, set aside differences, and unite in purpose. That unity is the true gift of Freemasonry. It is a beacon of hope, a living example to the world that men can meet in harmony and labor together for the greater good. Let us always cherish that gift, protect it, and nurture it for the generations that will come after us.

As your Grand Master, I ask each of you to renew your own commitment to the Craft. Take the lessons learned in the Lodge room and carry them out into the world. Practice brotherly love in your daily life. Lend a helping hand to the needy. Be an example of integrity in your profession, kindness in your family, and service in your community. In doing so, you not only honor the obligations you took at the altar you keep the light of Masonry burning brightly for all to see.

Brethren, the strength of Ohio Masonry is not in its buildings, nor in its numbers alone. It’s true strength is in you the good men who choose to wear the Square and Compasses on your heart. I could not be prouder to serve alongside you. Let us labor together with renewed energy, united in our purpose and bound by the fraternal ties that make us one.

With warm fraternal affection and gratitude,

Shawn A. Johnson
