When Most Worshipful Brother Shawn Johnson introduced “Committed to the Craft” as the theme for his term as Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Ohio, he underscored a simple truth: Freemasonry is not defined by membership alone, but by how its values are lived each day.
In Part 1 of this series, we shared stories of Brothers and lodges whose commitment was visible through fellowship, leadership, and shared experiences that brought men together across distance and background. In this second installment, we continue that recognition by highlighting Ohio Freemasons whose dedication is most often seen through quiet service, steady reliability, and care for others.
Being Committed to the Craft is not measured by recognition or title, but by consistency. Acts such as showing up for a lodge, mentoring a Brother, and checking in after a meeting has ended. Thank you to the Masons who shared these stories.
Worshipful Brother Dan Jackson: Commitment in Motion

Worshipful Brother Dan Jackson exemplifies what it means to be Committed to the Craft through extraordinary dedication, discipline, and enthusiasm for Freemasonry.
In just four years as a Mason, WB Jackson has distinguished himself as an exceptional ritualist and leader. He currently serves as Worshipful Master of New Lisbon Lodge No. 65 while also holding the office of Senior Warden of Allen Lodge No. 276 — a remarkable level of responsibility that reflects both his capability and commitment.
WB Jackson has completed all lectures and charges and is known for traveling extensively to support lodges wherever he is needed. His willingness to give his time, talent, and energy to ritual excellence demonstrates a deep respect for the Craft and its traditions.
That commitment is having a visible impact. His lodge is thriving, with seven Entered Apprentices currently progressing through the degrees and continued momentum toward growth. Through strong leadership, dedication to ritual, and an infectious passion for Freemasonry, WB Jackson is helping build a lodge culture that inspires both new and seasoned Brothers alike.
Though still early in his Masonic journey, Worshipful Brother Dan Jackson leads with purpose, humility, and tireless effort. His example reminds us that commitment to the Craft is not measured in years alone, but in how fully a Brother embraces the work, the responsibility, and the opportunity to serve.
Right Worshipful Brother Tim Redick: Leading by Example

Right Worshipful Brother Tim Redick is described by those who know him best as a Brother whose devotion to the Craft sets a standard others aspire to reach.
Despite maintaining a demanding and active schedule, he consistently makes time to support Brothers in distress, offering help whenever and wherever it is needed. His commitment is not limited to meetings or titles, it is reflected in the way he prioritizes people, relationships, and responsibility.
Those who nominated him shared that it is his example — steady, humble, and sincere — that encourages others to continue their own journeys in Freemasonry. To them, he is not only a respected leader, but a trusted friend whose actions speak louder than words.
This is commitment demonstrated through consistency and care.
Brother John Botts: Service Without Spotlight

Brother John Botts lives the values of Freemasonry through hands-on service and quiet generosity.
Though he lives on the west side of Cincinnati, he regularly travels to Mason to care for his lodge — clearing snow from the parking lot in winter, mowing grass and pulling weeds in the summer, and keeping the grounds looking neat without ever seeking acknowledgment.
His service extends far beyond the lodge doors. Brother Botts is often the first to step in when a fellow Brother needs help at home, lending his skills for plumbing, electrical work, or carpentry projects. He shares what he grows as well, offering jars of home-canned produce from his garden, firewood he has cut and split himself, and help whenever it is needed.
Just as importantly, he serves as a mentor to newer Brothers, patiently guiding them as they begin their Masonic journey. In every sense, he puts into practice what Freemasonry teaches — not in theory, but through daily action.
The Commitment That Moves the Craft Forward
These stories remind us that being Committed to the Craft does not require recognition, applause, or position. It requires willingness — to give time, to offer help, to mentor others, and to live our values even when no one is watching. Freemasonry endures because of men like these.
We are grateful to every Brother who submitted a nomination, and to all Ohio Freemasons who live Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth through their actions each day. Together, these examples show how Ohio Freemasonry continues to grow stronger, one act of commitment at a time.
