What role does a Grand Master have in Freemasonry?
The Grand Lodge of Ohio is a nonprofit corporation. The Grand Master is the modern CEO and chairman of the board of the Grand Lodge. He is the guardian of Masonic ritual and tradition in Ohio; the interpreter of Masonic law, including the Ancient Charges and unwritten Landmarks of Order, and the representative of Ohio Freemasonry to the rest of the world. He answers only to the Grand Lodge of Ohio when in session at its Annual Communication, where his decisions and actions are reviewed and approved by the membership.
