What is the Grand Lodge of Ohio Masonic Code, and how do I access it?

There are at least five levels of Masonic laws, rules, and regulations.

  1. The Masonic Code is generally used to refer to the Constitution (including Ancient Charges), By-Laws and Resolutions of the Grand Lodge, and the Code of Government for Lodges and the Uniform Code of By-Laws for Subordinate Lodges.
  2. The ceremonies of installation, dedication, consecration and reconsecration are usually printed as part of the Code and include obligations and instructions that have the force of Masonic law.
  3. The charter for subordinate lodges includes rules under which a subordinate lodge may operate.
  4. The rituals of the different Masonic degrees include obligations, promises, and charges related to member behavior that are considered to have the force of Masonic law.
  5. The Landmarks of Freemasonry are also essential to our understanding and interpretation of the Code and Masonic law.
