Meet the Grand Master 2025 – Shawn Johnson

Grand Master, Grand Lodge of F.&A.M. of Ohio
Shawn Johnson was born in Springfield, Ohio, to Sue and Lenny Johnson. His mother, Sue, retired as a rural postal carrier. His father, Lenny, retired from International Harvester in Springfield, Ohio.
Shawn grew up in South Charleston, Ohio, attending Southeastern High School. Upon graduation, Shawn moved for a brief period to Pandora, Ohio, to be employed by Triplet Corporation before joining the United States Army in 1987. Shawn attended basic training in Ft. Jackson, South Carolina, then attended electronic communications school at Ft. Gordon, Georgia.
Upon graduation from Advanced Individual Training (AIT), Shawn was stationed in Karlsruhe, Germany, where he enjoyed the country and honed his skills setting up and operating satellite, microwave, and tropospheric scatter technology. Shawn then transferred to Ft. Campbell Ky. Joining the 101st Airborne Division, where he was then deployed to the Persian Gulf for Operation Desert Storm. While in the Gulf War, Shawn was responsible for several soldiers and electronic communications, including front-line communications.
For his service, Shawn received the Good Conduct Medal, Sharpshooter with the M-16, Air Assault Badge, National Defense Ribbon, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 2 bronze stars, and the Kuwait Liberation Medal.
Continuing in telecommunications after leaving the service, Shawn found employment with AT&T, retiring after 25 years as a quality manager. He is now employed as a project manager at Actalant Services in the Grid automation department.
Shawn has been married to his lovely wife, Colleen, for over 21 years, where he was blessed with 4 daughters and now 8 grandchildren. In his leisure hours, he enjoys spending time with family first and foremost. Being outside and tinkering with anything that is broken. Right Worshipful Brother Shawn Johnson is an endowed member of Fielding Lodge #192, where he is a past master. Other masonic affiliations include Springfield Council #17 RSM, Shawnee Chapter #237, Palestine Commandery #33, Millennium Chapter #382 AMD, Khana Shahar Grotto, Antioch Shrine, Dayton Chapter National Sojourners, Mid-Ohio Valley Camp Heroes of 76, Solomon 7s widow sons’ chapter, and he is an officer for Miami Council Prince of Jerusalem Valley of Dayton 33rd Degree.
Most Worshipful Brother Shawn Johnson served the Grand Lodge as a District Education officer from 2014-2016, and as a District Deputy Grand Master from 2016-2018. He was appointed by MWB Jess N. Raines as Junior Grand Deacon in 2018 of the Grand Lodge of Ohio and has subsequently been appointed as Senior Grand Deacon, Grand Marshal, and Grand Orator. In 2022 he was elected junior Grand Warden, Senior Grand Warden in 2023, and Deputy Grand Master in 2024. Most Worshipful Brother Johnson was elected and installed as Grand Master on October 24th, 2025, at Kalahari Resort in Sandusky, Ohio.
